Basic Introduction Workshop:
There are many different styles and ways to create calligraphy. This workshop teaches how to use a dip pen and ink. While covering the basics, I take a meditative approach to teaching. I will explain how simple breathing techniques can help with not only creating beautiful calligraphy but also quieting your mind and relieving overall stress once the session is over.
This workshop includes:
90-minute in-person instruction (led by me!) on calligraphy basics
A workbook that covers the basic strokes, the lower case and uppercase Copperplate Calligraphy letters, how to put words together, and extra practice exercises to complete at home
All necessary materials-- participants will bring home a calligraphy holder, nib, 1/2 ounce jar of ink, mechanical pencil, nib wipe, and final product to show off on decorative paper

Faux Calligraphy Ornament Making
Calligraphy lettering can also be achieved with any basic writing utensil with a method called faux calligraphy. I will cover how to create thick downstrokes and thin upstrokes using felt-tip pens while participants complete practice exercises. Afterward, you will be able to write any names, words, or phrases in faux calligraphy using paint markers on acrylic ornaments. These make fantastic personalized gifts for the holiday season.
This workshop includes:

A workbook that covers the basic strokes, the lower case and uppercase modern style letters, how to put words together, and extra practice exercises to complete at home
All necessary materials-- participants will bring home a felt tip pen, workbook, and up to 5 acrylic ornaments decorated by you!

Intermediate Workshop:
Information from the Basic Introduction workshop will be reviewed and included in this workbook along with some more advanced tips and techniques. The uppercase alphabet will be covered in more detail as well as how to create your own style, flourishing, and some fun drills. All necessary materials will be included.

Brush Marker Calligraphy Place Cards or Gift Tags
Calligraphy lettering can also be created using utensils that are easier to use than nibs and ink. Brush makers are a fantastic, fun, and less messy way to create the same thick downstrokes and thin upstrokes. After demonstrating how to use brush pens and completing some practice exercises, you will be able to will get to create some items to bring home. If you opt for the place cards workshop, you will up your hosting by having these lovely place settings at your next holiday dinner. If you join the gift tag workshop, you will impress your friends and loved ones with truly unique gift tags. You won’t even need a card!
